Methodology

Protein Bars, Snacks, and Diet Products

I rank my protein snacks on the following criteria:

  • Price (1-15 scale): The Price score will be based on the cost-effectiveness of the product. A score of 1 means the product is highly expensive, while a score of 15 indicates the product is very affordable.
  • Fullness Factor (1-15 scale): The Fullness Factor score will be based on how satisfying and filling the product is. A score of 1 means the product is not filling at all, while a score of 15 indicates that the product is extremely filling.
  • Nutrition Facts (1-35 scale): The Nutrition Facts score will be based on the healthiness and nutritional value of the product. A score of 1 means the product has very poor nutritional value, while a score of 35 indicates that the product is extremely healthy and nutritious.
  • Flavor (1-35 scale): The Flavor score will be based on the taste and overall flavor profile of the product. A score of 1 means the product has a very unpleasant taste, while a score of 35 indicates that the product is extremely flavorful and delicious.
  • Overall (1-100 scale): The sum of the above.

Energy Drinks

I rank my protein snacks on the following criteria:

  • Nutrition: For this I consider calories, added sugar, caffeine content, and sweetner of choice
  • Price: This is pretty straightforward. Generally speaking, anything ~$2/drink is standard, $1/drink is great, and $3+ is awful.
  • Taste: This is highly subjective, but I will do my best to present an objective analysis of the flavor and tell you what I like and don't like about it.
  • Effectiveness: This is not weighted very highly, since it is very subjective and I have a very high caffeine tolerance, but this is generally how effective I think the drink was at providing me with energy.
